ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE JAZZ
AÂMA
Jazz and Imaginary Voices
A quintet born from the meeting of guitarist Bertrand Maïlar and singer Emma Prat in September 2023, Aâma means “global, common, universal” in Arabic.
Their music is a delicate alchemy of jazz and traditional sounds from Africa, the Mediterranean, and French chanson. It flows effortlessly between the lyricism of the Orient, the freedom of jazz, the storytelling depth of song, and the pulse of African rhythms. It is “a promise of a gentle journey” (La Voix du Nord, 2024).
Aâma released their debut EP “Éponyme” in May 2024. The group won both the Audience Award and the Jury Prize at the Golden Jazz Trophy, as well as First Prize for Composition and Ensemble at the 24th Tremplin du Sunside (Paris) in 2025 — establishing themselves as one of the rising voices of the new French jazz scene.
In August 2025, Aâma recorded their first full-length album, “Le jour où tout ira bien” (The Day Everything Will Be Alright), scheduled for release in January 2026.
