LAURA PERRUDIN

Singer and harpist, composer, producer, and songwriter, Laura Perrudin first came to prominence in 2015 with her debut album Impressions, widely acclaimed by the press (featured by Le Monde, FIP, Les Inrockuptibles, and the BBC).

Accompanying herself on the harp — acoustic, in a folk setting, or electric with machines — she walks a tightrope between pop and the experimental, between deep grooves and hallucinatory textures, between the pictorial and the narrative, between the spontaneity of live performance and the obsessive detail of her electronic productions.

Her second album, Poisons & Antidotes (released in September 2017), firmly established her among today’s leading crossover artists — “a first-class explorer with an enchanting voice” (Jazz à La Villette). She has been featured on prestigious and diverse stages including Trans Musicales de Rennes, Le MaMa, Jazz à Vienne, Détours de Babel, Winter Jazz Festival New York, and Le Chainon Manquant.

In September 2020, her third album Perspectives & Avatars pushed further into a pop that is increasingly soulful, electric, and dance-oriented, and featured distinguished guests such as Philippe Katerine, Emel Mathlouthi, Becca Stevens, and Mélissa Laveaux.

Laura is currently preparing the release of an acoustic album, Tempus (early 2026), as well as a new creation at the crossroads of digital arts with an augmented harp (autumn 2026).

TEMPUS

Tempus is a new solo program for acoustic harp and guitar/voice.

Vocal cords, plucked strings, struck strings: the focus is on vibration and on the breath that carries each phrase. Tempo is freed from any external constraint, resynchronized with the shifting rhythm of our breathing. The performance listens to the space inhabited in that moment and enters into dialogue with it.

Tempus was born from a desire to focus on the intimacy of songs in their most acoustic and stripped-down form — the most archaic musical gesture: setting a string into vibration. Each concert brings its own space and its own instrumentarium: today classical guitar and Celtic harp; tomorrow chromatic harp, ukulele, or piano… Laura Perrudin’s songs all have multiple faces and lives: they can be carried by different instruments, changing colors and shapes from one concert to another, depending on the space and the encounters.

Impressionistic neo-soul, minimalist folk-jazz, metaphysical noise-blues… here, primal trance and the raw texture of skin against prepared string meet the ethereal harmonic refinement of French melody.

The unifying thread running through all the songs (in both French and English) is the idea of time: our relationship to it, and its many meanings and dimensions.

The lockdowns made us aware of the importance of rethinking time. But after observing our society “at a standstill” and non-human life reclaiming our world, what did we learn? What did we make of it? By observing its capture or its liberation, time appears as the most precious gift we are given — allowed or confiscated. As philosopher Jacques Rancière puts it: “emancipation is the re-conquest of time.”

Beneath the fullness and the noise lies an immense field, populated with wonders too small to perceive in our saturated space-times. What happens when we suddenly unclutter time? When we stop filling it? What do we learn to hear when we listen to silence? Tempus is one possible answer — among an infinity of others yet to be explored.
